Beloved husband of Vivien Gardner. Dear father of Curtis Gardner and Douglas (Jenny Balzer) Gardner. Loving grandfather of Gavin and Charlie Gardner. Dear brother of the late Dr. David W. (Ellen) Gardner. Beloved son of the late Dr. David and Dr. Muriel Gardner. Dear uncle, cousin and friend.
Some people live one life; others live many—Terry was unmistakably the latter. He spent his life helping others through his ophthalmology practice and provided FAA medical certificates to thousands of pilots. An accomplished and passionate aircraft restorer and pilot, his journey began early—setting a record by flying seven planes solo on his 16th birthday—and continued through flying F-4 Phantoms in the Air Force, as well as Sabreliner and Embraer jets, and Robinson helicopters. Yet his true passion was vintage aviation: Great Lakes biplanes and time spent tinkering in the hangar at Creve Coeur Airport.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Terry was a lifetime animal lover, contributions in his memory may be made to the Open Door Animal Sanctuary, 6065 Duda Road, House Springs, MO 63051.
