Not sure what to say?

Very sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Durk. When he visited us in Canada, I felt he was a clone of my Dad. So easy to talk with, great sense of humor, and always so kind. Speaking with Dad this weekend, he said they had so much fun together as kids back in Holland, especially the last time they visited and toured their homeland. He said Durk was his best friend.
My sincerest condolences to your family.

Our sincere condolence's to all his family and friends. You will be missed Uncle Durk. Love Steven and Deb Jorritsma

Durk's Obituary

In Loving Memory of Durk Jorritsma

Durk Jorritsma, a devoted Patriarch, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, peacefully passed away on November 11, 2023, entering eternal rest with Our Lord in Heaven.

Born on October 26, 1931, in Holland, Durk was one of 15 siblings. At the age of 24, he fulfilled his dream of coming to America, arriving at Ellis Island, NY, with not a word of English to his name. His journey led him to San Fernando, California, where he embarked on his life as an immigrant American, fueled by an unwavering work ethic and tenacity that allowed him to realize the American dream.

In 1960, Durk married the love of his life, Maria Frederica Van Dooremolen. They established their home near her family in San Fernando, raising four children: Anthony, Annalisa, Durk, and Jennifer. In 1969, they moved to Garden Grove, residing there for 25 years before settling in Fallbrook, CA, where they spent the last 30 years together.

After 37 years of dedicated service to General Motors, Durk embraced retirement. He found joy in exercise, walking, travel, gardening, and the countless projects he undertook around the family home. Durk and Frederica celebrated 63 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love.

Durk leaves behind a legacy cherished by his grandchildren: Micheal, Nicholas, Christopher, Grant, Gavin, and Monique, as well as his great-grandchild, Camryn Jolie. His love for family, infectious sense of humor, and strong character will forever be remembered and treasured.
