FLORENCE – Dwight Ashby Jenkinson, Jr., 87, died Monday, October 28, 2013, at his residence after an illness.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013, in Florence Baptist Temple Chapel with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home.He was born in Florence, a son of the late D. A. Jenkinson, Sr. and Mattie Richbourg Jenkinson. He graduated from Florence High School and the University of South Carolina in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He was employed by Holliday Brothers as Business Manager from 1952 – 1957. He was hired as business manager by McLeod Infirmary in 1957, and was appointed assistant administrator in 1963. In 1974 – 1977, he became Interim Administrator of McLeod Regional Medical Center and was instrumental in the construction of the new hospital. He served as Vice-President of Fiscal Services from 1977 until his retirement in 1991. He continued as a consultant until 2012.Mr. Jenkinson served as President of the South Carolina Chapter of Hospital Financial Management Association. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Hospital Association. He also served on the board of the SC ETV. He was appointed adjunct professor by the USC School of Business.He was an avid golfer and in the early 1980's, he was state champion of the SC Hospital Association.He was predeceased by his first wife, Laura Matthews Jenkinson, and is survived by his present wife, Barbara Bowman Jenkinson. He is also survived by four children: Dwight A. (Lynn) Jenkinson, III, of Charleston, Sandra L. (Conrad) Derrick, Robert Banks (Cindy) Jenkinson, and Paul M. (Lisa) Jenkinson, all of Florence; four step-children: Carrie (Dennis) Hanley of Charlottesville, VA, Christine (John) Hurst of Florence, Kellie (Douglas) Ruge of Summerville, SC, and Kimberly (Tim) Brown of Cincinnati, OH; a sister, Uldine Holland King of Florence; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren; a niece, Linda (Frank) Clum of Florence and a nephew, Billy (Sharon) Holland of Scranton, SC.
