Earl N. Matte

Earl was a wonderful friend to my family for so many decades. He was kind, thoughtful and always remembered my dad's birthday with an amazing sketchbook. I always felt that he should have been famous since his work was brilliant. He will be missed.

Mary I am deeply sorry for your loss. I had the honor of serving 4 years with Earl at Our Lady of Lebanon. He was a truly wonderful man. May God grant him peace in the heavenly mansions of light and joy. May his memory be eternal.

Father Matt married us August 24, 1971. We loved his easy style. Back then becoming Catholic wasn’t as structured as it is now but Fr Matte made it interesting. God bless & May the perpetual light shine upon him.

My deepest sympathies to you, Mary. I will always remember Father Matte, Earl, and his Sherlock Holmes stories in religion class. He was a wonderful man and marvelous witness for Christ.

God bless you, Mary. Earl was a man I always admired and loved. What a faithful, loving, cheerful,artistic servant of God's people. I met him in 1970 when I came to Flint as a deacon. You were a holy couple; God bless you both.

I went to st Michael’s school with Earl for many years. We graduated in 1955. RIP Earl.

We are sorry to hear of Earl's passing. It was just a couple of months ago when we discussed getting together for dinner. Now, we'll still do so, just at a much better table.

The Gisewhite family, especially our children, have great memories of their early years at St. Pius. Many of those involve 'Father' Matte, his jokes and mostly his kindness. My first memory of Earl Matte is how kind and gentle he was to the pupils at St Pius X school.. His great inspiring stories of the Magic Cloaks. He took time to be interested in the loudest of kids and the time to notice the shy.
