So very sorry Sue and family, Gene was such a good man he is in heaven now his work here is done sadly I am so sorry he is gone.

Gene, I can’t believe when you stopped at my house last week on your way home from the nursing home that was the last time I will see you. I’ve known you for almost years but it feels that we have known each for a long time. You will missed greatly and please watch over Susan. Forever in my heart.

Mr. Eddie Eugene “Gene” Hill, 74, husband of Susan Diane Gilliard Hill, of Centenary, passed away following a brief illness on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his home.

Gene was born in Camden, South Carolina on October 29, 1951, a son of the late Eddie Hill and the late Stella Cachette Hill. He was a retired Drywall Installer. Gene was an avid fisherman, always making time to bait and cast lines when he had a chance. He enjoyed taking friends and family along with him and sharing fishing stories. Gene was a godly man who loved his Lord and cherished and lived by his Bible. Gene loved his family and will be deeply missed.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of the home, Susan Diane Gilliard Hill; his son, Lee Hay of Arcadia, FL; stepson, Jonathan David Hay of Arcadia, FL; his grandson, Trenton Lee Armstrong; and his two sisters: Renee Hill of Mullins and Judy Tyler Brown of Marion.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, February 5, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.  Mr. Gene’s service will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
