Eddie Jenkins, Sr., a retired Merchant Seaman, departed this life at Ochsner Medical Center, Westbank on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. A Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. He served on the Usher Board at St. Matthews United Methodist Church. Husband of Vera Jenkins. Father of Constance (Kevin) Burns, Wanda Jackson, Charleane (Jesse) Hunter, Shelita H. Weber, Michael Jenkins, Eddie Jenkins, Ernel Jenkins, David Jenkins, Charles Harrison, Quince Jenkins and the late Clarence Green. Son of the late Helen Beloney and William Jenkins. Brother of Carl (Gail) Beloney and John (Freddie Mae) Beloney. Also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family. Age 83 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Algiers, LA.Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Beautiful Zion and Regular Baptist Churches, St. Matthews United Methodist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 1100 Verret St., New Orleans, LA on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation 10:00 a.m. until service time at the above named church.
