I was surprised today to receive this reminder of Dr. Kolb's passing, and the solicitation of a comment. I'm retired now, but had a dream about work this week and Dr. Kolb, my boss, appeared in it. I had made a big mistake but he was understanding and forgiving, just emphasizing learning from it and moving on. It was a pleasant dream and a nice memory of his spirit.

I cannot express how much Dr. Kolb ment to me as a school administrator and as a mentor. Dr. Kolb was the greatest Director of Pupil Personnel Services that I have known. Dr. Eddie L. Kolb Jr., 80, of Salem, VA departed this life peacefully at LewisGale Medical Center on Thursday, April 28, 2016. He was born on August 20, 1935, to the late Eddie Kolb Sr. and Eunice Kolb in Columbus, GA.
Eddie was an alumnus of Virginia State University, Radford University and University of Virginia. He was a Commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Eddie retired from Roanoke County Public Schools as Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education.
Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife, Betty Freeman Kolb, of Salem, VA; son, Tony Kolb, of Roanoke, VA; daughter, Lynn McRae, of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Sidney Kolb, Elynor Fields and Morgan McRae; sister, Regina Crutchfield, of Silver Spring, MD; daddy, Philip Magwood, of Silver Spring, MD; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Cedric Malone officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
