Eddie's Obituary

Eddie Louis Patterson Sr. was born to Lucious and Maggie Patterson on April 19, 1942. 

He was raised and attended school in Liberty, Mississippi. Later in life Eddie accepted Christ. 

Eddie married Elnor Smith and to this union three sons were born. The family later moved to Chicago Heights. Later the marriage was dissolved. Eddie later married Ellen Tolbert and into this union, a daughter was born.

Eddie moved to Gary, Indiana in 1971. 

Eddie was employed by Johnson and Jennings Steel Mill in Chicago Heights around 1961. Later he obtained a position at Chicago Heights Steel Mill until he retired. 

Eddie's hobbies were hunting, fishing and gardening, he loved handing out his vegetables to anyone in need. He had a passion for dogs, singing and listening to the blues. He adored his truck which he named “Big Red”. What brought joy to Eddie's heart was cooking and having family over to indulge in the food that he prepared. Eddie was known for telling jokes and stories followed by his shotgun laughter. On nice days you could find Eddie sitting outside on his porch enjoying the weather and chatting with his neighbors. He loved life and his family and cherished his many friendships.

He was preceded by both of his parents and nine siblings. four sisters: Bertha, Easter Mae, Beatrice and Clementine; five brothers: Hilton, Fred, Odell, Leonard and John L and special friends: Doris Johnson and Gloria Hodges 

Eddie peacefully entered eternal life on July 2, 2024.

Eddie leaves behind to cherish four sons: Eddie (Annette) Patterson Jr, Darrell Patterson, Melvin Patterson and Maurice Cunigan; seven daughters: Shalonda Neal, Veda ( Shawn) Crawley, Stephanie Patterson, Yvette Johnson, Demetria (Stanley) Johnson, Temeka Johnson, and Jalisa Patterson; two stepchildren: Maurice Young and Lisa Haskins; two daughters he raised: Sherrie Johnson and Sharon Johnson;  one brother: Monroe (Minerva) Patterson; sisters-in-law; Elnora Patterson and Alice Patterson and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Eddie will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all that knew him.
