Although my mom doesn't let me visit you sometime but the times I have been with you I cherished them especially when we was just talking on the front porch every moment was the greatest time I had with you so thank you granddad for the time I had with you

Edison Young Jr. entered eternal rest on the afternoon of November 15, 2025, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia. Born on November 27, 1947, in Montgomery County, Georgia, he was the beloved son of Mr. Edison Young and Mrs. Emma Lee Telfair Young, both of whom preceded him in death.
Edison confessed Christ at an early age and united with Live Oak Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a Deacon in 2001 and later called to preach the gospel in 2003 under the leadership of Rev. Lewis Scott Jr. His life was a testament to unwavering faith, humble service, and deep love for family and community.
A graduate of the Montgomery County School System, Edison was drafted into the United States Army and served his country with honor and courage. In 1968, he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in the Vietnam War.
Edison earned an associate’s degree in culinary science from Ben Hill - Irwin Technical School and was known by family and friends for his good cooking, passion for cars, and love of basketball. Edison worked as a Plant Supervisor at Atlantic Pole until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, Edison was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Gwendolyn Flowers Young; sisters, Margaret Telfair, Rita Young Jackson, and Charlie Mae Dawson; brother, Richard Duke Young; and brothers-in-law Jerome Adams and Samuel Jackson.
He is survived by his cherished sons: Antione (Janice) Flowers, Edison (Monica) Young III, Travis (Katrice) Young, and Christopher Young; sisters-in-law, Michelle Young, Debra (Isadore) Snead and Annette Bell; brother-in-law Edward Flowers; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Edison Young Jr.’s life was marked by courage, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to faith and family. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
