I did not know your mom; I happened to read her obituary in The Progress-Index, and I saw your name. I immediately thought, " I worked with Carter-Moore at Sussex II." Edith's Obituaries

Mrs. Edith Carter-Jones, 59, of 148 Clayton Street, Petersburg, VA, departed this life on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at VCU/MCV Medical Center, Richmond, VA.  “Boosie” as she was affectionately known was born November 23, 1958 in South Hill, VA. 

 

She attended of Park View High School in South Hill, VA. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Stony Creek, VA.  Edith was a devoted and caring certified nursing assistant for 30 plus years. Edith enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends. 

 

Edith was preceded in death by her father, Robert Phillips; mother, Shirley Baskerville; maternal grandmother, Mahala G. Carter and paternal grandmother, Lucy Coles-Phillips.

 

Edith is survived by her husband, Willie B. Jones; children, Mahala Carter-Moore (Terrence) and Latrina Carter (Randell); stepchildren, Tesha Brown, Donzel Ampey, Shana Ampey and Bernard Ampey; grandchildren, Jasmine Moore, Jalisah Moore-Wynn (Aaron), Aaliyah Jackson, Aakiyah Jackson, Shamya Jackson and  Tyrone Baskerville; great grandchildren, Kailen Wynn, Mahagony Jackson, Jaelyn Ford and Jesiah Ford; seven brothers, Calvin Baskerville (Margaret), John Baskerville, Condrew Baskerville, Benjamin Baskerville (Patricia), Tyrone Baskerville (Renee), Jerome Baskerville and Bobby Phillips (Ella); great aunts, Beatrice Baskerville and Virgie Brooks; devoted uncles, Walter Lee Carter (Alma), George Carter (Cora Ann), Condrew Alexander and Charlie Phillips (Mae); devoted niece, Crystal Wolfe; devoted nephew, Lamar King; devoted friend, Laura Phillips; god-son, Gee Bridges; devoted canine companion, Junior “June Bug”; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends too numerous to name.

Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Galilee Baptist Church, 12392 Lee Avenue, Stony Creek, VA, the Rev. Herbert Holly II, Pastor of St. John Baptist Church, Stony Creek, VA, eulogist.  Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.The family will assemble 1:00 P.M. the day of the service and receive friends at 1004 Augusta Avenue, Petersburg, VA.
