Edna's Obituary

Kassekert, Edna R. (Nee: Barth) age 89 of Maple Shade passed away on January 23, 2015. Beloved bride of the late Henry W. for over 61 years. Loving mother of Linda and Nancy and four grand cats. Daughter of the late Edward and Florence Barth and sister to the late Walter Barth (the late Peggy). Also survived by sister in laws Ann and Barbara Kassekert, brother in law Edwin Hartley and many nieces and nephews. Edna worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad where she met Hank who was also employed there, on a subway platform in Philadelphia. Upon moving to New Jersey, in addition to raising her two daughters, she worked in various retail stores, opening Strawbridge & Clothier in the Cherry Hill Mall, for BCTC in the Maple Shade School System and Regal Finance Company. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Maple Shade, serving on the Altar Guild, as an usher and teaching Sunday and Vacation Bible School. Edna and Hank enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii, Las Vegas, Florida and the Grand Canyon. The family invites friends to her viewing and funeral services. A viewing will be held in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 South Forklanding Road, Maple Shade, NJ 08052 on Friday from 10-11am with her funeral service to begin at 11am. Burial will follow in Colestown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church as listed above.
