Edward Ros Abinsay Oct. 13, 1919 ~ Jan. 4, 2012 Pittsburg Resident of 50+ years With family and friends at his side, at the age of 92, Edward Ros Abinsay was called by our Lord and joyfully reunited with his loving wife, Susana. He touched many lives with his gentle spirit and optimistic perspective on life. Born in Albay, Philippines, he was the eldest of 5 children. He joined the Philippines Scouts and subsequently enlisted in the US Army. A World War II Veteran, survivor of the Bataan Death March and Corregidor, and Korean War Veteran, Edward unselfishly devoted and dedicated his life to his country. After 20+ years of military service, he retired in 1964. Continuing his Army connection, he worked for the US Army Reserve Center in San Pablo and in Rio Vista until his full retirement in 1989. Never idle, he volunteered full-time volunteer at the Pittsburg Senior Citizen Center. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and following the SF Giants. He was an active member of the Filipino-American Association of Pittsburg, Filipino Seniors Folk Dance Troup, Filipino Catholic Society, American Legion Post 151, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Edward was most happy with family and friends, "talking story", listening to big band music, and following world politics. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. His laughter, generosity, loving nature and cheerful spirit will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Susana, He is survived by his daughters, Edna (Clifton) Iwamoto, Evangeline (Brian) Walsh, Erlinda (Jerry) Carson, son, Edward Abinsay Jr. (Myrna), 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Maraming salamat po (Thank you very much) to all who loved and cared for him. Vigil Thursday, Jan. 12, 4-7 pm @ Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Rosary Jan. 12 at 7pm.
