Ed and I go back to five years before we both entered the BFD in the fall of 1965 having both worked for Swift and Co. prior. Later on we'd see each other when bowling in the BFD league and other events. Ed became our greatest supporter of our hockey team which then was in it's infancy. He was quite a good athlete himself and once carried a 200 average in another bowling league. Needless to say he carried his weight working at the busy truck 3 on Spring street. A retired firefighter from the City of Buffalo passed away on April 14, 2025. Known for his unwavering dedication and bravery, Edward spent his life serving and protecting his community.
He loved taking care of his garden and enjoyed traveling, especially to the picturesque landscapes of Maine.
He is now reunited with his parents Pearl Lawniczak and Michael Cieslak.
Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Kowalski) Cieslak.
Edward is remembered by his daughters Deborah (Patrick) Moriarty and Donna (Robert) Bentkowski. His role as a loving grandfather will be fondly remembered by Kathleen Morreale, Timothy (Catherine) Moriarty, and Andrew (fiancée Elise Edgar) Bentkowski. He also leaves behind a loving bond with his great-grandchildren, Bridget and Robert.
Edward was a cherished brother to Stanley (Lorraine) Cieslak and Pearl (late Arthur) Lariviere. He was predeceased by his siblings Ceil (late Stanley) Lawn, Irene (late Louis) Kulavick, Francis Michael (late Dorothy) Cieslak, John Ratka, Josephine (late William) Monroe, Mary (late Edward) Lewandowski, Michael (Rose Marie) Cieslak, and Ann (late Robert) Betlewicz.
His extended family includes many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Services will take place at a later date.
