Obituary

Edward "Ed" Grady's Obituary

Edward “Ed” Grady McComb, age 74, of Canton, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at his home.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sosebee Funeral Home in Canton, GA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, followed by a Celebration of Life and Reception at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Roswell, GA. Pastor Glenn Hannigan will be officiating.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Ed served as a 3rd class radio man during the Vietnam War. He loved people and he had a special talent for turning new acquaintances into lifelong friends. People around the country and world called Ed a friend thanks to a successful 34+ year career with Harsco Track Technology, his memberships in Rotary International, Masonic Brotherhood, and both Anoka and Ebenezer United Methodist Churches.

Ed would tell you the hardest and best decision he made was to relocate to Canton, Georgia from Minnesota over twenty years ago - it brought him love, an expanded family and the place he happily called home. Active membership with Ebenezer United Methodist and its various committees gave him renewed purpose, and creating the Victoria Harbor D Dock Men’s Bible Group on Lake Allatoona was a source of great pride and provided him with several of his most cherished friends.

He could turn a simple trip to the grocery store into a legendary adventure; Ed created and collected memories everywhere he went. His fondest recollections included traveling the country in the RV with his wife Alicia and their beloved dog Maggie, with Anne Murray songs playing. His most amusing stories typically involved a boat, a pole and his fishing buddies. He was a character, and Ed’s wit and charm will be missed by so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Red” and Helen McComb; brother, Charles “Mickey” McComb and sister, Mary Margaret McDonald; survivors include his wife of 23 years, Alicia H. McComb; children, Erin McComb (Howie), Kayla Meintsma (Ron), Ben Looper (Brandy) and Lyle Looper (Krissie); grandchildren, Brody Jensen, Griffin Jenson, McKenna Henke (Bram), Ivy Snyder, Rhiley Snyder, Kennedy Looper, Holden Looper, Mabry Looper and Lawson Looper; cousins, Nancy Beasley (George), Ron McComb (Marge), Steve Shultz (Cindy), Lynn Miller, John McComb, and Pat Grizely; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ed McComb Memorial Fund at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 12900 Arnold Mill Rd, Roswell, GA, 30075.
