Not sure what to say?

When my father "Luis Melendez" moved us to Apopka Cambridge Homes after Hurricane Andrew. Immediately my father & Len the sales person hit it off very well, so well that Lenny decided to introduce my father Luis to Lenny's good friend Tom that at the time lived in Lake Mary. The trio became the best of friends. One day my father was going to visit Tom at his home in Lake Mary and I tagged along. Mr. Farley was my next door neighbor. Although we were not very close, I frequently enjoyed sharing a smile and a wave with him. I will miss that. Please accept our condolences.

I truly enjoyed knowing Tom while working with him with the Border Patrol in Florida. If nothing else, Tom was interesting and opinionated. And his wry sense of humor was second to none. He will be missed.

Tom and I were Border Patrol classmates who shared many laughs and beers together. Our,paths had also crossed over the years and we continued with laughs and beers. I have thought of,him often and have a few good great stories to tell. Wish I was there to share. RIP Huck.

Edward's Obituaries

Edward Thomas Farley Jr. “Tom”, 72 of Apopka, Florida, passed away on July 17, 2017 of a long illness.

Tom,  "Tommy" was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 31, 1945. As a child Tom moved with his family to Palatka, Florida where he  graduated High School and continued on to receive a business degree from Florida State University on a baseball scholarship; as Tom was a talented baseball player scouted by professional teams. After initially working in business, Tom's interests lead him to join and later retire from the U.S. Border Patrol, working in Yuma, Arizona; Michigan, and back to Florida.

Tom was married in West Germany, to Hannelore Kaufmann on October 31, 1969 of whom he met in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Tom comes from a long family line who served their country in the U.S. Army.

Tom had many loves (steak dinners, good beer, Doc Holliday stories, a good Kurt Russell movie) and many dislikes (sorry Obama, sorry those who want to mess with a person's First, Second amendment rights). Tom was an outgoing, sociable, jokester kind of guy,  enjoying various sports, southern barbecues, fishing and riding his boat on the lakes of Florida.

Tom is survived by his wife Hannelore; daughters Tanja Wilson & Natalie Michele Hersey; grandchildren, Joshua, Todd, Kirsten, Taylor, great-grandchildren Erik A., Blakely; brother-in-law Jerry; cousin Bill Dunn; and many friends. Tom will be laid to rest with his only son Erik Van Farley.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Ed and Ethel; his Uncle Henry, Aunt Opal, & Aunt Annie Mae..
