Mr. Edward Michael “Mike” Henderson age 69 of Gum Log Rd. Young Harris passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday August 9, 2025 following an extended illness. Mr. Henderson was born on March 28, 1956 in Young Harris, GA., the son of Bernice Sparks Henderson and the late Lloyd Henderson. Mike was a loving father, brother and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and cars. He was great at paint and body work. Mike was a preceded in death by his wife, Sonja Adams Henderson in 2023, his father, Lloyd and a nephew Derrick. Mike was a member of Revival Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Henderson are his mother, Bernice Henderson of Blairsville, three sons and daughters in law, Heath and Brittany Henderson of Hayesville, Ethan and Jessica Henderson of Murphy, Justin and Jeannette Franklin of TX., one daughter and son in law, Lucretia and Johnny Collins of Blairsville, five sisters and four brothers in law, Janice and Doobie White of Murphy, Tammy and Jimmy Chastain of Young Harris, Joy Ridley of Dahlonega, Genieve and Ray Whitmore of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Mitchell and Haley Henderson of Blairsville, his grandchildren, Rylan, Harper, Braedon, Hadley, Stella, Cole, Leah and Brea, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday August 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Donald Davenport officiating. Special music will be presented by Jason and Hillary Chastain. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jimmy Chastain, Mitchell Henderson, Randy Zimmerman, Ray Whitmore, Cory Henderson and Tren Cisneros. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Doobie White. Interment will follow in the Revival Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to help defray expenses in Mike’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 pm.
