Edward W. Rafferty, 90, of Little Meadows, PA, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Hometown racing legend, “Crazy Eddie” Rafferty was born on March 20, 1935 in Franklin Forks, PA, to the late Michael Joseph and Lola Corrinne (Wall) Rafferty.
Eddie was a racing champion on both asphalt and dirt. Ed raced and won at Penn Can, Five Mile Point and Shangri La. He was a member of the Central New York Stock Car Hall of Fame and two others. Ed was a car guy through and through. He took first place and blue ribbons across the state with his antique cars. Being an avid bowler, he brought trophies home in this sport also. He always had a deep bond with his dogs, including his latest companion, Sophie.
He is survived by his daughters, Laurieann Massey, Statesville, NC, and PattyLin Caudill, Statesville, NC, and his son, Michael E. Rafferty, Friendsville, PA, two step-daughters, Kathy (Mark) Nealy, Montrose, PA, Melissa (Kevin) Buchanan, Binghamton, NY, two step-sons, Doulas (Cindy) Somers, Hop Bottom, PA, Guy (Lori) Somers, Louisburg, NC, sister, Annie Mae Hunsinger, Goddaughter, Anne L. Hunsinger, sister-in-law, Gail Rafferty, many grand and great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ann (Stout) Rafferty, son, Joseph Keith Rafferty, grandson, Joseph Keith Rafferty, Jr., granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Mason, and many siblings.
Calling hour will be from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home.
