Janet, it has been many years..but what I remember is the love you and Eddie had for each other. May you be comforted knowing that he is no longer suffering and is with you and your family always in your heart and memories!

Edwin's Obituary

Edwin J. Kent, Sr., of Ledyard, passed away on Tuesday, January 08, 2019 at his home.

He was born on October 19, 1948, in New London, the son of Perley and Inez (Mattison) Kent.

Ed graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in 1967 and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy.  Following his military service, he worked with his brother at R.B. Kent & Son for 29 years before retiring. He also worked for Curtin Livery Company where he enjoyed driving his students.

He was married to Janet (Webb) Kent on January 4, 1969 in Groton and together they spent 50 years.

Ed is survived by his wife, Janet and sons and daughters in law, Edwin J., Jr. and Diana Kent, of Lake Mary, FL, and Jeffrey and Jennifer Kent, of Groton; two granddaughters Mariah and Olivia Kent, of Lake Mary, FL and two grandsons Brandon and Noah Kent, of Stonington; a great granddaughter Gabriella; his brother Richard Kent, of Groton; sisters Natalie Togneri, Nancy Adams, both of FL, and Barbara Garrison, of OK.

He was predeceased by his brother Perley Kent and his sisters Carol Kent and Patricia Sintak.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 900 Route 163, Oakdale, CT 06370. Burial is private. Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street, Groton assisted the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations in Ed’s memory may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church.
