Edwin Harold Phelps Sr., 75 of Wichita Falls passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls with Mr. Roger Deerinwater, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Homes of Wichita Falls.
Edwin was born on February 17, 1950 to the late Burton and Helen (Buerger) Phelps in Denton, Texas. He attended Wichita Falls High School. Early in life, Edwin worked as a farmhand, then at Nortex Sign Company, and at Box Pipe Yard. Edwin, as a member of the Wichita Falls Rattlesnake Club, enjoyed working the rattlesnake events, even though he was bitten a couple of times. While relaxing at P2 restaurant, he met the love of his life, Deborah Urbanczyk and the couple started up a romance. The two married on January 9, 1971 and spent many wonderful years together. While working and traveling for Western Geophysical as a mechanic, he spent time in thirteen different states. Later after settling back home in Texas, he worked as a mechanic and as a painter. He enjoyed working on his cars, tractors, and spending time just hanging out with his family and friends. Edwin loved to spend time at Lake Arrowhead and Shoshone Park fishing, camping and listening to Old Country music. He enjoyed smoking brisket and sharing his stories with family and friends. Also, he volunteered for the Arrowhead VFD for many years. Edwin never met a stranger; everyone was considered a friend. He will be missed by many family and friends.
Along with his parents and his Aunt Olga, Edwin was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Lea Phelps.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Phelps; daughter, Deann Orsak and husband, Dale; son, Edwin Phelps Jr. and wife, Cheri; and four grandchildren, Eriq Duron, Riqui Duron, Steven Phelps and Tracee-ann Phelps. The family would like to say thank you to the staff of United Regional Hospital and Hospice of Wichita Falls for the love and care of Edwin.
The family suggests donations may be made to the Arrowhead Ranch Estates VFD, 22514 FM 2393, Wichita Falls, TX 76310
