Effie was always so much fun. I considered her a great friend. Boys I've always loved you guys and although I haven't seen you in years you are still the Reed boys to me. I have you & your families in my thoughts and prayers. Debbie that includes you and yours too.

I loved my Aunt Effie she was a wonderful lady, her and Uncle CB would come to Pikeville Ky and we loved it because Carlton, Cain, Cevin, and Cris all played with us we always had a great time!!!
Me and Janie would stay all night at their house in later years!!!
Great memories cousins don’t even know each other now but we sure did then!!
I love this whole family so much would love to get to come to the services!!

NICKELSVILLE, VA- EFFIE STAPLETON REED, AGE 82
Effie Stapleton Reed went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2026 after an extended period of declining health. She was born in Nickelsville, VA on June 28, 1943 to the late Dewey and Frances Stapleton. Effie was of the Baptist faith and she loved her family dearly and a birthday was never forgotten. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Reed; son, Carlton Reed; brother, Guy Stapleton; sisters, Jean Hartsock and Patty Meade.
She is survived by her sons, Cain Reed (Benita), Cavin Reed (Tammy) and Chris Reed (Penny); daughter-in-law, Debi Reed; grandchildren, Cassidi Reed, Tanner Reed (Jessica), Jade Gillespie (Andrew), Evan Walker (Micah), C.J. Reed (Melissa), Jamie Hobbs (Ashton), Cliffton Reed, Daniel Dozier (Britney) and Britney Guy (Sambo); great-grandchildren, Avalee Reed, Eva Walker, Asa Walker, Wesson Benson, Karslee Morris, Granger Hobbs, Jaxon Padlo, Kodi Dozier, Kori Dozier, Ella Grace Hope, Eden Hope, Gauge Hope and Abbye Joiner; special nieces, Sandy Jones, Joyce Gilreath and Jenny Grizzle.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM – 12 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Colonial Funeral Home. Service will begin at 12 PM with Pastor Travis Stapleton officiating. Music will be provided by Ryan Stapleton.
Entombment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Ryan Stapleton, Cliffton Reed, Tanner Reed, Jason Lewis, Colton Stapleton and Rex Gilreath will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Hartsock, Jerry Stapleton, Preston Stapleton, CB Jones, Jackie Meade, Cody Jones and Jamie Grizzle.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at NOVA Health and Rehab.
