As a former phone company co-worker of Elaine's, when we both settled down I realized she had a sophistication about here that I have not seen since. Most people think of her beautiful music involvement. I received more.

Elaine Carolyn (Clark) Carr peacefully departed this life on February 15, 2026. She was born on April 24, 1948, in Greer, South Carolina, to the late Rupert (Harry) Clark and Birtie (Bruton) Clark.

There, she faithfully served as Minister of Music for 31 years under the late Rev. Alvin Hawkins and later under the late Rev. Billy Allen. Before her passing, Mother Carr was a devoted member of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership Pastor Al J. Terrell. She also served as Lead Directress of the Citywide Choir and proudly sang and directed with numerous choirs throughout the Pontiac and Detroit areas.
