Obituary

Elaine's Obituary

The Lord invited Elaine Rose Schultz, 79, of Verona Township, to Heaven on August 13, 2017, and Elaine accepted this call and left her earth family to join her family in eternity.

Elaine was born on June 27, 1938 to the late Nelson E. and Arla (Chapdelane) Mousseau in Filion, Michigan. 

She graduated from Kinde High School.  Elaine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church/St. Hubert Parish in Bad Axe.  She helped out with the church food pantry, funeral dinners and was a Eucharistic minister.  She was on the Huron Medical Center Auxiliary, where she was in charge of the cheese ball fundraiser.  Elaine enjoyed bowling, going to the high school sports games, especially football.  She worked at Huron Behavioral Mental Health for over fifteen years before retiring.

On January 28, 1956, she married the love of her life, Francis (Frank) Schultz at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Kinde.  He preceded her in death on October 19, 2014.  

Elaine loved traveling with Frank on his many Korean War Veteran reunions throughout the U.S., and traveling to Hawaii, Las Vegas and Italy.  She enjoyed her winter breaks in Florida.

They loved and raised five children: Francis of Bad Axe, Bob of Chesapeake, Virginia; Mark (Carolyn) of Bad Axe, Dan (Lori) of Orange Park, Florida; and Mary Ann (Bruce) Messing of Bad Axe.   Blessed with fifteen grandchildren: Jason Schultz, Levi (Jessica)Schultz, Rachelle Schultz; Savannah Schultz, Jodie Smith; Jennifer (Robert) Niec, Crystal (Nicholas)Walther, Kim (Dave) Roland, Brandon (Kylee) Schultz, Josh (Chrissy) Schultz, Shannon Schultz, Sabrina Schultz (fiancé Robert Anderson), Samantha Schultz, and Morgan Hessling (fiancé Jeffrey Ackerman)  and Hannah Messing.  An extra blessing in her nine great grandchildren: Xavier, Lydia, twins Edison and Sylvia, Cole, Tucker, Peyton, Miller, Eli and Lincoln.   She is also survived by her siblings: Georgina Blach of New Port Ridge, Florida; Dave (Betty) Mousseau of Kinde, Jerome (Diane) Mousseau of Saginaw, Joe (Theresa) Mousseau of Sterling, Michigan, Larry (Kathy) Mousseau of Traverse City, Dan (Jennifer) Mousseau of Unionville and Sue (Tom) Stahl of Bad Axe; sister-in-law, Mary Powers of Roseville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Maurice (Delores) Mousseau; her sisters, Donna (George) Ruth, Loree (John) Rice and Jeanette Del’Acquie; brother-in-law, Ed Blach and sister-in-law, Nancy Mousseau.

Elaine will be truly missed by her family and friendly neighbors, Frank & Shirley Delpiere, Lowell & Beth McDonald and Paul & Cathy Lerash.

Mass of Christian burial will take place 11 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Rob Howe officiating.   Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home/ Mac Chapel with a Scripture service at 7 p.m.   Visitation will also be at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers: Pat Geiger, Jody Woodruff and Paige Rhodes.

Memorials may be offered to the St. Hubert Parish Food Pantry or to Huron Medical Center Auxiliary.
