Elbert Osborne, Sr., 89, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, peacefully completed his earthly journey on Monday, January 26, 2026. He was born on December 22, 1936, in Plainview, Arkansas, to the loving union of Lonnie Osborne and Corine Love Osborne. Elbert was a proud graduate of the Historic Langston School in Hot Springs, where he was active in the school band. At an early age, he confessed his faith in Christ while attending Haven United Methodist Church in Hot Springs.
Elbert developed a passion for photography at a young age, and by 16, he was taking photographs for Coffey’s Camera Shop, a longstanding business that faithfully served generations of families for more than 90 years. His greatest passion, however, was horses. For many years, Elbert worked with Oaklawn and alongside other horse enthusiasts, caring for and training horses. He traveled extensively on the racing circuit, and his skill, patience, and understanding of horses made him highly sought after in the industry. During the racing off-season, he worked various jobs and eventually retired from Union Carbide after years of dedicated service.
Known for his joyful and easy-going spirit, Elbert was truly a pleasure to be around. He was kind, generous, and deeply believed in supporting people and meaningful causes. He faithfully donated to numerous organizations, including the State Police, F.O.P., Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and many local community groups. His generosity was boundless, and he was often recognized with notes of thanks, shirts, and tokens of appreciation reflecting his giving heart.
Blessed with a green thumb, Elbert took pride in growing healthy, vibrant flowers. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and watching westerns. Sundays were often spent listening to gospel music, while the blues remained his favorite genre.Elbert was blessed to have found love and companionship but was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna Means Osborne; his parents; son, Terry Wayne Osborne; daughter, Brenda Fay Osborne; sister, Oma Faye Walker; brothers, Michael Osborne and Sylvester Osborne; brothers-in-law, James McClure and Albert Walker; sister-in-law, Bertha Osborne; and granddaughter, Lacretia Russell.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Elbert Osborne, Jr., of Hot Springs; daughter, Sandra Osborne; stepdaughter, Cynthia Brooks (Clarence), both of Redlands, California; Joann McClure of Hot Springs; Odessa Osborne Miles of Mabelvale, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his faithful dog, princess and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Elbert's Homegoing Celebration Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Home in Hot Springs. Viewing will be held the same day from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
An online guestbook is available below for family and friends to share condolences and cherished memories. Brandon’s Mortuary is honored to be entrusted with professional and compassionate care.
