Eleanor Emma Christina Schadd, 88, of Pigeon, passed away on May 23, 2021 under hospice care at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe.
Eleanor was born on March 9, 1933 in Pigeon, Michigan to the late Herman and Emma (Nestler) Licht. She was a graduate of Pigeon High School and Central Michigan University.
Eleanor married Clarence P. Schadd on February 29, 1964. They were married for 55 years. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2019.
She taught home economics at Utica and Monroe High Schools. Eleanor was a lifetime member of Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. She enjoyed gardening and canning.
Eleanor is survived by her one daughter: Stacy Leiby and her husband, Don of Charlotte, Michigan; one son: Philip Schadd and his wife, Carol, of Bad Axe; three grandchildren: Paul Schadd, Kimberly Leiby and Michael Leiby. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Barb Gosselin, Elmira (Roger) Smithe, Evelyn Schadd and Marie Leonetti.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, John Schadd and her brother, Arthur Licht.
Funeral service for Eleanor will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon with Rev. Glenn Sokolowski officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be offered to Cross Lutheran Church Building Fund.
