Eli W. Yutzy, age 89 years and 8 months, died peacefully at 12:30 am, Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at home. He was born September 25, 1936 to William J. and Fannie (Miller) Yutzy. He married Loretta Burkholder on December 25, 1958 in Nappanee, IN. He was a retired farrier and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Eli is survived by his wife, Loretta Yutzy of Bremen, IN; 4 sons: William (Ruth Otto) Yutzy of Hillsboro, WI, Edward (Julie Hochstetler) Yutzy of Bremen; Eli Jr. (Lydia Mae Miller) Yutzy of Sturgis, MI, and John (Geneva Bontrager) Yutzy of Goshen, IN; 5 daughters: Rosetta (Stephen) Schmidt of Goshen, Becky (Howard) Hochstetler of Bremen, Clara (Perry) Yoder of Bremen, Mary (Dennis) Hochstetler of Bremen, and Elizabeth (Jerry) Slabaugh of Nappanee; 60 grandchildren; 147 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 2 brothers: Fred (Sara Ann) Yutzy of Vermontville, MI and Jonas (Emma) Yutzy of Jamesport, MO; 1 sister, Mary (Elmer) Beechy of Jamesport, MO; and 2 sisters-in-law, Maude Burkholder of Bremen and Elizabeth Wickey of Bremen. Eli was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Suetta Yutzy; grandson, Joas Yutzy; brother, John Yutzy; sister, Katie Weaver; 3 brothers-in-law, Oscar Burkholder, Jonas Mullet, and Pheanis Wickey; and 1 sister-in-law, Ina Mullet. Visitation will be held after 2 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026 and all-day, Friday, February, 27, 2026 at the Dennis Hochstetler residence (2860 Birch Rd, Bremen, IN 46506). A funeral will begin at 9:30 am on Saturday, February 28, 2026, also at the Dennis Hochstetler residence. Home Ministries of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will take place in Borkholder Cemetery, Nappanee. Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
