Betty was a fabulous needlewoman and a wonderful customer at our Gulf Breeze shop. I especially appreciated her dry sense of humor.
I was fortunate to receive a hardanger paperweight from her at one of the Guild's exchanges and it holds a proud place of honor. I think of her every time I see it sitting on my desk. She touched many people and lived a long full life.
My thoughts and prayers to the families -

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Betty through my sister Rachel Reed who was her "helper" and friend. While I didn't spend much time with her, the stories of wonderful times that her and Rachel shared warmed my heart. The few times I did sit with her will forever be close to my heart. She was so very thoughtful. Before I even met her, she had heard of me being pregnant and gave me the give of two children's books. One of which was "Goodnight Moon". Elizabeth “Betty” Sellers

1923-2017

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Perryman Sellers, 94, passed away on July 30, 2017 at her home of more than 50 years in Gulf Breeze, FL.

Betty was a native of Montgomery, AL, and graduated in 1945 from Alabama College (now University of Montevallo), with a degree in chemistry. She worked at Southern Research Institute in Birmingham, AL, where she met her husband, Henry G. Sellers, Jr. They were married in 1948, relocated to Pensacola in 1957, and to Gulf Breeze in 1967.

She was a Girl Scout leader, a school library volunteer, and a devoted mother to her children. Betty also was a volunteer at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital.

Betty was prolific and accomplished in many forms of needlework, and was a founding member of the Gulf Coast Stitchery Guild. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola, and was a volunteer church librarian for many years. Betty also was active in the church’s Samaritan Hands ministry. She prepared baked goods for the Waterfront Mission New Hope Recovery Center on a monthly basis until she was well past her 90th birthday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry G. Sellers, Jr.; her parents, George Ira Perryman, Sr. and Elizabeth Moffett Perryman; and by her brothers, George Ira Perryman, Jr. and Robert Thomas “Bob” Perryman.

Betty is survived by her children, Martha Cohen and Richard G. Sellers, M.D.; her daughter-in-law Beth; her grandchildren, Josh Cohen and his wife, Angeline, Rebekah Cole and her husband, Cade, Abby Crangle and her husband, Casey, Ben Sellers, Preston Sellers, and Madeline Sellers; and by her eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on August 2, 2017 in the Pleitz Chapel at First Baptist Church of Pensacola, 500 N. Palafox Street, with Rev. Ross Lankford presiding. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Gulf Breeze.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Samaritan Hands Ministry of First Baptist Church of Pensacola, 500 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
