Wilton, NY- Elizabeth Jane McGuirk (53) of Wilton, NY, passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by family on October 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 6, 1972, in Bloomfield, NJ and raised in Chatham, NJ, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Raymond McGuirk and Jean (Hardisty) McGuirk. She attended St. Patrick’s School and Chatham High School before going on to graduate from Rosemont College.
Elizabeth worked for distinguished organizations including Accenture, Deloitte, PwC, and General Electric. She concluded her professional journey returning to Deloitte, where her dedication made a lasting impact.
Elizabeth was deeply committed to her community. She devoted countless hours to volunteer work with organizations including The Junior League, the Dorothy Nolan Home School Association and others, always seeking ways to give back and make a difference in the lives of others.
Elizabeth had a creative spirit and an eye for beauty, finding joy in home refurbishment and decorating. She was an avid traveler with a passion for exploring new places and experiencing different cultures and she loved visiting her many close relatives in England, Ireland and Scotland. But more than anything, Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother who never missed a school event, ball game, science fair, or concert. She cherished listening to her sons practice with their bands in the basement or the garage, fully supporting their passions.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Brian O'Connell; her two beloved sons, James and Thomas O'Connell, all of Wilton, NY; her brother, Michael McGuirk (Amanda Gabbard-McGuirk) of Ridgefield, CT; and many cherished cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews who will forever hold her memory dear.
She was kind and she was fun to be around. Elizabeth’s warmth, generosity, and infectious spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she brightened.
A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N, Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (imaginationlibrary.com) or the Saratoga SNACpack Program (snackpackprogram.com), causes that reflect Elizabeth’s commitment to supporting children and families in need.
