Ella Pinkas Sachs, 81, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Sunday, November 30, 2025, at her home in St. Louis, MO.
Born November 26, 1944 in Haifa, Israel, she was the daughter of Joseph and Eddie Pinkas. Ella graduated from the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) and served in the Israel Defense Forces. She worked as a math instructor at The Hebrew Reali School in Haifa. In 1969 she married Rimmon Sachs, and together they had five children and five grandchildren. They immigrated to the United States in 1981. She taught math for many years at Harris-Stowe State College and St. Louis University. She also worked as a private tutor for dozens of young students in the area. She loved walks in nature, especially by a lake or the ocean, and was particularly fond of deer. She traveled frequently, often to see her children and grandchildren. She leaves to some of her children an enduring love of yard sales. She was an avid reader and cinephile as well. In the video streaming era, she was known to partake in the occasional Israeli soap opera. Her latkes were legendary.
Surviving her is her husband, Rimmon Sachs, and sister, Nurit Eyal (Avram); children Carrie Camerer, Zohar Sachs (Burckhard Seelig), Karen Sachs, Shai Sachs (Robin McManus), and Noga Sachs; grandchildren Adam Camerer, Elizabeth Seelig, Miriam Seelig, Charles McManus, and Edward McManus; niece and nephew Galit Neeman (Efi) and Ofir Eyal; cousins Eleanor Silverman (Philip), and Iris Langman (Alan); aunt Hana Amitay and cousins Orly Yakir and Sigal Nir.
