I cannot imagine my childhood without Elma. I am so grateful my so was also able to come under her wing for a time as well. Her love touched so many lives through the years. I was blessed to know her.

Elma Merle Tschantz, 88, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. She was born October 11, 1927 in Trego County, Kansas the daughter of Harry J. and Elsie Gossage Goul. She was raised in Columbus, Kansas and graduated from high school there. Elma moved to Topeka shortly after World War II. She was married to Fred Tschantz, Jr. on July 10, 1948 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She loved to read and passed her love of reading along to her family. She also enjoyed crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles. Elma will always be remembered by a host of people who spent many wonderful days growing up at her daycare in Highland Park.Elma is preceded in death by her husband Fred, in 2005 and her son Dan, who passed away in 2015. Her parents and five siblings also preceded her.She is survived by her children; Mike Tschantz (Donna) of Topeka, Rick Tschantz of Topeka, Colleen K. Smith (Brice) of Topeka, Nan Crane (W.R.) of Kearney, MO; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dean Goul in Wichita and William Goul of Belton, Missouri.Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at Davidson Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 17th. Inurnment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery.
