Roxbury Twp.: Elmer F. Sweedy passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Morristown Medical Center. He was 84 years of age. Elmer was born and raised in Wharton. He moved to the Ledgewood section of the township in 1953. Mr. Sweedy was a lineman for JCP&L for many years, retiring as a foreman in 1985. He later did consultant work for Dow/Corning for over 4 years. Elmer enjoyed the horse track, fishing and keeping a garden as well as spending time with his son. Pre-deceased by his siblings: Irene Gorman, Edward Sweedy, Jr., Helen M. Lelegko and John Sweedy. Survived by his son David of Ledgewood and his daughter Beth Dolff of Braunschweig, Germany.
Two grandchildren: Aljoscha and Roxane Dolff.
Also survived by his two brothers, Leonard T. of PA and Bobby of Wharton.A memorial visitation will be held 10am-12pm on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A funeral service will be held 12pm at the funeral home, following the visitation. Burial of cremains at St. Mary’s cemetery.Read More
