Not sure what to say?

Don, Linda and Susan.....I wanted to express my sincere sympathies and condolences to the recent passing of your mother. Your parents were such dear friends of my own parents. Many happy memories of time spent together over the course of many years and I cherished my own relationship with your Mom and Dad. Your parents are now together again.....may they rest in peace for eternity.

Sincere sympathy to the Pirolo Family at the passing of Joan, a dear friend over many years. Always such a kind and gentle person, and a great partner to Dino over their many adventures along life's journey--thankfully they now Rest in Peace together.

Susan and families. So sorry to lose your Mom months after your Dad died. That is true love. My Mom and Dad were married 55 years when my Dad died in 2007. Mom is now 96, and she misses him terribly. Also, all her friends from her generation are all gone.

As for me, almost died on 1/11/2019. Had confusion and had frequent falls. Was at McClaren hospital in Petoskey until yesterday. Had some kind of infection in ileum so was on antibiotics by intravenous and would not let...

I am sending this on behalf of my mother Shirley Choquette a long time friend of Joan from Michigan and Northern Minnesota. Lisa Choquette Nelson.

"My sincere sympathy to Eloise Joan Pirolo's family. I would especially love to hear from Linda Ethier if possible."

Eloise Joan's Obituary

Eloise Joan Pirolo, 87, died January 14, 2019, from Alzheimer’s disease, at home in Maple Grove, MN.

Joan was born July 15, 1931, in Stambaugh, MI.  She was married for 64 years to her high school sweetheart, Dino Pirolo, of Caspian, MI.  It was love at first sight for 14-year-old Joan, who spotted Dino from afar and told her friends “that’s the boy I’m going to marry”.

Joan completed her Registered Nursing education at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in 1953, and she and Dino were married later that year.  During the early years of their marriage, Joan worked at Stambaugh Hospital and as a public health nurse.  Over the course of their marriage, Dino’s positions with Inland Steel led the couple to assignments in Ishpeming, MI; Iron River, MI; Crosby, MN; Manistique, MI; Virginia, MN; and East Chicago, IN.

Joan was devoted to her family and faith.  She enjoyed reading, homemaking activities, playing the piano and traveling.  For more than 30 years, Joan was an active member of PEO, an international philanthropic organization supporting the education and advancement of women.  In 1993, Joan and Dino retired to Prescott, AZ, where they made many new friends.  They returned to MN in 2015 to be closer to family.

Survived by children, Donald (Elizabeth) Pirolo, Linda (John) Ethier, Susan (Frank Herrera) Pirolo; grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda), Isaac, and Andrew Pirolo, and Michael (Heather) and Sarah Ethier; great-grandchildren, Adam Pirolo, and Benjamin and Eloise Ethier. Preceded in death by loving husband, Dino Enrico Pirolo; parents, Elmer and Eloise (Hartley) Anderson; brother, David Anderson.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, January 19, in the Silvercreek chapel, 8200 Main St., Maple Grove, with visitation beginning at 10:30 and reception following. Memorials to donor’s choice of charity are preferred in lieu of flowers.  Special thanks to our Amada caregivers and Allina Hospice care team.
