Elsa Gladis Avelar

With a heavy heart our family announces the death of our beloved mother, Elsa Gladis Avelar on September 28, 2025 at the age of 83.  Elsa Gladis Avelar, also known as Doña Chita, 83, of Huntsville, Tx, passed away at Huntsville Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side.  

Doña Chita, as she was known, was born in Metapan, Departamento Santa Ana, El Salvador on May 15, 1942 to Miguel Angel Mancia Sandoval and Maria Magdalena Duarte Lara. During her lifetime, she accomplished and earned a good standing in her immediate community.

She was deeply proud of graduating top of her class with her diploma in Fashion Design and Embroidery. She was an artist with a passion for gardening, flowers, poetry writing, drawing and watercolor painting.  During her lifetime she studied hard and obtained her GED.  She also attended community classes and became an American citizen. She was considered a good and wise woman by those who knew her best.  She was respected and loved.  She will be mostly remembered by all for her love of flowers and conversations.  

Doña Chita is survived by her children Maria Guishard, Nuria Ardon, Wilber Ardon, and Edgar Ardon, her grandchildren, Glenn Guishard, Anthony Guishard, Angelito Ardon, Gabriel Ardon, Jacob Ardon, Zachery Ardon, Abraham Ardon, her great-grandchild Edgar Orlando Ardon and last surviving sibling, Miguel Mancia.  Doña Chita was preceded in death by her siblings, Milagro Mancia, Nora Mancia, and Trine Mancia.

The funeral will be held at Iglesia Apostoles y Profetas on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 10:00am-11:30am.  The wake will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, starting at 7pm.  

Con gran tristeza, nuestra familia anuncia el fallecimiento de nuestra querida madre, Elsa Gladis Avelar, el 28 de septiembre de 2025 a la edad de 83 años. Elsa Gladis Avelar, también conocida como Doña Chita, falleció en el Huntsville Memorial Hospital con su amorosa familia a su lado.Doña Chita, como era conocida, nació en Metapán, Departamento de Santa Ana, El Salvador, el 15 de mayo de 1942, hija de Miguel Ángel Mancia Sandoval y María Magdalena Duarte Lara. Durante su vida, logró diversos éxitos y se ganó un buen reconocimiento en su comunidad inmediata.Se sentía profundamente orgullosa de haber terminado como la mejor de su clase en su diploma en Diseño de Moda y Bordado. Era una artista apasionada por la jardinería, las flores, la escritura de poesía, el dibujo y la pintura en acuarela. Durante su vida estudió con dedicación y obtuvo su GED. También asistió a clases comunitarias y se nacionalizó estadounidense. Quienes la conocieron mejor la consideraban una mujer buena y sabia. Era respetada y querida. Será recordada principalmente por su amor por las flores y las conversaciones.

A Doña Chita le sobreviven sus hijos: María Guishard, Nuria Ardón, Wilber Ardón y Edgar Ardón; sus nietos: Glenn Guishard, Anthony Guishard, Angelito Ardón, Gabriel Ardón, Jacob Ardón, Zachery Ardón y Abraham Ardón; su bisnieto: Edgar Orlando Ardón; y su último hermano sobreviviente: Miguel Mancia. Le precedieron en la muerte sus hermanos: Milagro Mancia, Nora Mancia y Trine Mancia.

El funeral se celebrará en la Iglesia Apóstoles y Profetas el sábado 11 de octubre de 2025, de 10:00 a. m. a 11:30 a. m. El velorio se realizará el viernes 10 de octubre de 2025 a partir de las 7pm.
