I knew Mannie when she was a very young girl . I always thought to myself she is so pretty. Not only was she pretty but she was so kind and thoughtful and you couldn’t help but love her. When her daughter Justine was born she glowed. Justine was everything to her. She has a beautiful family, loving sister Stella. It was always Stella and Mannie. She will be missed dearly and I will hold all those precious times we shared together . My deepest condolences to her family . Love you

Emanuela G. (Ataldo) Achin, of Somerville, passed away on November 30, 2025, she was 73. Known by many as “Mannie”, she was born in Verona, Italy the daughter of the late Maria (Magro) and Sergio Ataldo. She immigrated to the United States as a young girl with her family and together they settled in Boston’s North End where she was raised.
Emanuela worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an administrative assistant with the Department of Revenue, a position she held for over 40 years before retirement. In earlier years she loved to travel with friends and family. Destinations included visits to Italy, trips to Aruba, and Puerto Rico. She often enjoyed trips to the local casinos to try her luck with her sister Stella. She loved Italian music, especially Il Volo and her 3 o’clock date with general hospital daily. Above all, Mannie cherished time spent with her family and her beloved animals Sugar and then Dante.
She was the devoted mother of Justine Achin and her husband Eliu Olmo of Lowell and cherished grandmother of Gabriella and Mateo Achin-Olmo. Loving sister of Stella Rando and her late husband Pasquale of Somerville. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street Medford/Somerville line on Tuesday, December 9th from 10:00AM to 11:00AM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at 11:00AM.
