Emma's Obituary

Emma Singleton was born to Doc Arnold and Mrs. Mary Reid Arnold on August 18,1945 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Her parents and three brothers preceded her in death.

“And a time to die.” Ecclesiastes 3:2 God in his infinite wisdom called Emma from labor to reward on at February 8, 2024 Dallas,Texas.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures: he lead me beside the still waters. Psalms 23

In 1970, she joined the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. After moving to Dallas, she united with New Mount Zion Baptist Church. Then she joined North Garland Baptist Fellowship in Garland, Texas. She has worked with the Youth Ministry, the Women's Ministry and the Bow Tie Boys.

“Marriage is honorable... Hebrew 13:4Emma was joined in holy matrimony to Ponell Singleton on December 22, 1972 at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. To this union two children were born, Byron and Kimberly Singleton.

Emma received her education in the Clarksdale Public School System. As she attended Texas Southern University she was initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Gamma Psi Chapter,in Spring 1967. She received her B.S in Education and M. ED from Texas Southern University. She transferred to Omicron Mu Omega Chapter in 2005. She has served on the Childcare and Education Committees.

Emma was employed by the Dallas County Community College District and works on the campus of Mountain View. She has taught classes in the Business Division and Development Reading in the Arts and Communication Division.

She is also a member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association and the National Education of Development Education.

Emma will forever be remembered by her family who loved her. The memories will be remembered by her son Byron Singleton (Devon); daughter Kimberly Leonard; two brothers: Eddie Poindexter (Denise) of Phoenix, AZ, Clarence Arnold of Houston, TX and two sisters; Jeriden Arnold of Houston, TX and ArleaneTurner (Will) of Memphis, TN. Two granddaughters: Destiny Joy Leonard and Precious Miracle Leonard ( great granddaughter Scarlett Rose). She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
