I extend my sincere condolences to Debbie and children. I worked for Ernie at Knollwood back in the 90s. Ernie was a kind man and a wonderful boss. He was a delight to work with/for. His humor was spot on. Ernie allowed me to make choices about which position might best challenge me and bring satisfaction to me. He cared about his people; he was that kind of fellow. Fly with the Angels dear man!

I was very sorry to hear about the passing of Ernie. We almost share the same birthday and are the same age ,s it hits a bit close to home. He was lost way too soon. Ernie was a bit a character and had a fun sense of humor, so it kept things interesting while working with him on a golf project. My sympathies to the family. for your loss.

Ernie was a great friend and work-out buddy. I loved spending time with him, dinners with his family and exploring great wines together. He and I worked closely together to ensure the success and longevity of Somersett Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nevada and introduced much needed but difficult changes to make that happen. I will miss his good nature, energy and excitement. I know he loved his family dearly and I cannot express how much I feel for his family and their tragic loss. To Debbie and the kids, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ernie I cried my eyes out when I heard of your passing. You were one of my favorites. I loved that decorated sugar egg you gave to my mom when you were in culinary school. The swans were beautiful inside the egg. I also remember when you cooked spaghetti for us too. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I loved my time with Ernie working here at Somersett. I always enjoyed our talks about our children (all grown now) and what parenting tactics were successful and totally unsuccessful. Ernie loved his family so much and always put them before himself. We always reminisced of our ClubCorp days and great places to ski. Always offering a helping hand and of course a solution for challenges we faced. Unfortunately the job of GM in an industry that is on the decline made for tough travels. I will always be thankful for the Hail Mary pass he and Rich Oster threw to persuade the SOA to purchase the golf course land. He will be sorely missed. Thank you my friend for being a mentor. You were a great man.
To Debbie, Chris, Nick and Jackie my thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish you peace in knowing your beloved husband and father is now in heaven smiling down upon you free of pain and the tasks of everyday life. Cherish his spirit always for he never leaves - he will always be by your side.
Much love - Stuart Smith

I never had a better boss. I enjoyed my job even more and he always complimented my work. He hired me as a maintenance director. At times when we had our meetings in his office we would talk about our catholic faith. I will never forget his smile. God bless my friend Ernie Micelli and rest in peace.
