Celebrating the Life of Ernest Vasquez Jr.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ernest Vasquez Jr., who passed away on March 10, 2026, in Midland, Texas, at the age of 58.
Ernest gave his life to God on March 7, 2025. His family finds comfort in believing that he has now reached his permanent home in heaven.
Ernest was born on April 9, 1967, in Lubbock, Texas. Throughout his life, Ernest worked as a bricklayer/masonry, dedicating many years to his trade across Texas. His work and life took him to Austin, Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa, where he built not only structures but also friendships and lasting connections with those who knew him.
Ernest was a man who always put the needs of others before his own. He had a generous heart and a deep love for his family. Those who knew Ernest remember him for his willingness to help others, his strength, and the quiet way he showed his care and unconditional love and support to the people in his life.
Above all, family meant everything to Ernest.
He was a proud father of two sons Daniel Loe and Ernesto Pilar Vasquez.
Ernest is lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters: Dolores Ruiz (Louis), Clifford, Marie Holder (Eddie), Michael, Vincent, and Sammy, and by his nieces and nephews: Angel (Dominique), Michael, Savanah, Vincent (Yanelit), Jazmine, Savannah (Nathan), Christian, Joshua (Madison),Miranda, Sammy and Alana. He was also known as a loving great uncle to Richie, Xavier, Faith, Amadaeus, Donovan, Paix, Enrique, Bella, Alexyz, Major, Millianna, Vincent, Tiago, Rosie, Silver, Kamila, and Lilly, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Daniel Loe; his mother, Guadalupe Vasquez; brother, Santos Nicolas Vasquez and sister-in-law Ida Vasquez.
One of the things Ernest will be remembered for most was the intentional time he spent with family outdoors. He loved taking his siblings, his children, and his nieces, and nephews on adventures across Texas. Many of their favorite memories are of days spent fishing at lakes and rivers across Texas, hunting in the Texas countryside, sitting together under the shade trees at Barton Springs in Austin, and sitting under a tree enjoying the outdoors. Those simple moments created memories that his family will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Ernest’s life was one marked by hard work, love for family, and kindness toward others. He made every family gathering special and made sure everyone was ok and taken care of before he took care of himself. He was also known as the family photographer making sure every family moment was captured to be treasured forever. Ernie would come into a room loud, laughing, and ready to enjoy every moment with family. His laugh was contagious and his unconditional love that he showed to us all is what we will remember and cherish forever.
Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created—on fishing trips, family outings, and long days spent together—will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor his life at Pueblo Viejo 104 S. Terrell Midland, TX on April 9th from 2-6pm.
