Esther Chupp, age 91, formerly of Nappanee, died at 2:10 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026 at The Waters of Wakarusa. Esther was born on July 7, 1934 in Nappanee to Noah M. and Emma C. (Schlabach) Miller. On October 20, 1955, Esther married Jacob Chupp. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2008. Esther was a lifelong area resident and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She is survived by 5 daughters: Emma Fern Burkholder of Salem, IN, Linda Kay (Floyd) Yoder of Wolcottville, IN, Loretta (Howard) Miller of Nappanee, Rose Mary (Martin) Yoder of Nappanee, and Ruth Chupp of Nappanee; 6 sons: Howard Allen (Nora Chupp) Chupp of Nappanee, Wayne Jay (Melissa Graff) Chupp of Nappanee, Glen Ray (Wanita Yoder) Chupp of Goshen, IN, Floyd Eugene (Lori Borkholder) Chupp of Nappanee, Loren Devon (Karen Schmucker) Chupp of Bremen, IN and Carl Lee (Lily Schwartz( Chupp of Nappanee; 51 grandchildren; 162 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a brother, Eldon Miller of Sebring, FL. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Jacob Chupp; her son, John Dale Chupp; 3 grandchildren: Joe Dean Chupp, Mary Kay Chupp, and Leann Chupp; a great grandson, Seth Allen Yoder; son-in-law, Wayne Burkholder; 3 sisters: Fannie Chupp, Edna Hochstetler, and Mary Miller; and 6 brothers: Marvin, Owen, Willard, John, Melvin, and Emmanuel. Visitation will be held after 3 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026 and all day on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at the Carl Chupp residence (70932 W County Line Rd, Nappanee, IN 46550). A funeral with Home Ministries of the Old Order Amish Church officiating will begin at 9:30 am on Monday, January 19, 2026 at the Carl Chupp residence. Burial will follow in Borkholder Cemetery, Nappanee.
