Esther Durazo Obituary

Esther (Jeannie) Durazo, the beloved matriarch of the Lombardo Durazo family, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 9:15 PM, surrounded by her family. She succumbed to complications from Alzheimer’s disease just one day before the 64th wedding anniversary she shared with her devoted husband, Lombardo who passed away in 2020.

Esther is survived by her three daughters: Joanne Middleton, Juliet and Patrick Martin, and Jacqueline and John Murphy; her grandson, Joshua and Bailey Middleton, her granddaughter Adrienne and Riley Keeton; her great-granddaughter and namesake, Harper Jean Keeton; her sister, Phyllis Rios; her mother-in-law, Virginia Durazo; her brother-in-law, Arnold Durazo; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lombardo (Jim) Durazo; her parents, Virginia and Felix Miramontes; and her sister, Nancy Durazo.

A proud graduate of San Fernando High School, Esther met the love of her life in high school. Their first date was Senior Prom and they married two years later. By the age of 23, she was a mother of three daughters. In her early years, she embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom, creating a warm and loving home. In the early 1980s, Esther transitioned into the workforce, first as a bank teller and later as a medical insurance specialist.

In retirement, Esther enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching her grandchildren grow up and going on memorable trips to her “Happy Place” Bass Lake home, Mexico, and Hawaii.

Above all, Esther's greatest joy came from being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life was a reflection of unconditional love, kindness, and devotion. With her calm and gentle spirit, she fostered a home filled with warmth and affection. She led by example, showing all who knew her how to love deeply, respect one another, and live with grace. Her legacy is one of treasured memories, fun-filled adventures, and cherished traditions—moments that will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor, followed by a luncheon at The Odyssey Restaurant. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman.
