Eugene Joseph Duffy Jr. , 73, born on June 12, 1945, formerly of Hackensack, NJ, passed away on January 3,2019 at Riverview Medical Center with his family by his side. Gene was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ and was a proud graduate of St. Peter’s Prep and St. Peter’s College. He also earned a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from New York University. He began his career in city planning in Jersey City and then moved to the City of Hackensack where he retired as the Director of Community Affairs.
Gene spent his summers in Mill Rift, PA, and maintained many close friendships from there throughout his life.
He was an avid photographer and traveler and was fortunate to be able to enjoy both; although his greatest passion was photographing his beloved grandchildren. At family and friends gatherings, Gene was always the man behind the camera.
He spent many many hours researching his Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland to meet his relatives there and obtain his Irish citizenship.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Dorothea Jane; his daughter Aidan Duffy Millsapps and her husband , Josh; his son EJ Duffy III and his wife, Megan; his five grandchildren, Cameron, Colton, Mack, Piper and Finn; and his many cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Jessie Duffy.
