Geno was always so happy and I am glad I had the pleasure of working with him and becoming friends. He always seemed to live life to the fullest.I'm sure he's riding a harley as I write this!! He will be missed!! RIP GENO

Eugene's Obituary

Eugene Geno T. Powers, Sr., 62, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Geno is survived by his loving wife of twenty-two years, Robin M. (Poole) Powers; two daughters, Sarah A. Shell and her husband Michael of Oxford and Angela M. Powers of Worcester; two sons, Eugene Geno T. Powers, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Athol and Casey Powers and his wife Michelle Roberge of Worcester; a sister, JoAnn Cooper and her husband Rick of Auburn; five brothers, Raymond Powers, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Worcester; Joseph R. Powers of Okeechobee, FL, Richard J. Powers and Patricia Devlin of Worcester, Gary J. Powers of Shirley and Robert J. Powers of Worcester; ten grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Debora and Mary Ann Powers. Geno was born in Worcester, son of the late, Raymond J. Sr. and Philomena (DeQuattro) Powers and has called this city home for all his life. Geno graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and later served his nation proudly in the United States Coast Guard, during the Vietnam War. Geno worked for many years at Kindred Healthcare in their Westborough, Lancaster and lastly the Concord Facilities, from where he retired as the Director of Maintenance in August 2010. He was a member of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn, the VFW Post 3657 and he enjoyed fishing, Keno, playing pool and video games. He was proud of his family and he was always happiest being with them. Calling hours for Geno will be held on Wednesday, November 7, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, November 8, from the funeral home, departing in procession at 10:30 a.m. for at Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Solamor Hospice, 15 Midstate Drive, Auburn, MA 01501 or the Disabled American Veterans at DAV Memorial Program, P.O.
