While praying for Evan after I got the news of him being found unconscious, the Lord brought to my mind the hospital visit when he was born. While y’all had been told the entire time the baby was a girl - surprise!!! We laughed & rejoiced that “he” had arrived, needed a new wardrobe & was sooo handsome!
My heart breaks for you both & for Rachel!! You’ll be in my prayers as you walk through the days, months & years without Evan. Know that the memories stored up will become...

On February 28, 2026, heaven welcomed home a joyful seven-year-old boy who no longer struggles for breath and now runs freely in the presence of Jesus. If you ever heard a burst of giggles followed by the rumble of toy trains and the snap of Legos clicking into place, you were probably near Evan Patterson Snell.
Evan Patterson Snell, age 7, passed away on February 28, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Though his life was far too short, it was overflowing with joy, laughter, curiosity, and love.
From the very beginning, Evan’s smile lit up every room. His joy was pure and contagious. When he giggled, it came from deep within and made everyone around him feel lighter. He had a tender heart and a playful spirit that made ordinary days feel extraordinary. He was an extremely special boy.
Evan loved his toy trains and cars, creating little worlds of adventure and imagination. He also had a deep love for Legos. Building was not just play to him. It was creativity, imagination, and engineering in action. He could focus for long stretches of time, designing and constructing with determination and pride. He loved figuring out how things worked and how to make them stronger or taller. There was something remarkable about watching his mind at work, seeing his quiet concentration turn into something sturdy and impressive.
One of Evan’s most cherished possessions was his beloved Monster Bun-Bun. Tattered from all the love he had poured into it since day one, Monster Bun-Bun was his constant companion through adventures, quiet moments, giggles, and bedtime snuggles. It was a symbol of the comfort, imagination, and heart that filled his days.
He loved being the sidekick. Whether it was Mommy, Daddy, or Sissa, Evan was happiest when he was right beside one of his favorite people. He always wanted to be near, helping, observing, participating, belonging. Being part of whatever they were doing made him feel proud.
Every time he saw Mommy, he would immediately make a little heart with his precious hands. Without fail, Mommy would make it right back at him. That simple exchange, that shared signal of love across a room or down a hallway, was the very best part of her day. Seeing his sweet smile in that moment made everything else fade away.
And if you knew Evan, you knew that Oreos were his love language. Whether sharing a cookie, negotiating for an extra with that familiar grin, or simply enjoying them together, Evan found joy in every sweet moment. In those small, sweet moments, he made people feel chosen and included.
Evan had a delightfully ornery and mischievous streak. There was often a suspicious little smirk on his face that let you know he was up to something. That twinkle in his eye, that half grin that gave him away before he even spoke, was part of his charm. Even when he was being just a little onery, it was impossible not to smile back at him.
Evan, born on May 30, 2018 in Perryton, Texas, was deeply loved by his parents, Tim and Teresa Snell, and by his big sister, Rachel Snell, lovingly known as Sissa. He was cherished, protected, celebrated, and held close every single day of his life.
He is also lovingly remembered by his extended family: Tracey Barnaby; Debbie and Mark Fendley; Christine and Samuel Griffith; Frankie Joe Griffith; Joe and Laura Griffith; Alice and Paul Remington; and Sarah Snell. He was preceded in death by Steve Snell and John Griffith. Evan lives on in the hearts of each of them, holding a special place that will never be forgotten.
The Snell family are members of Community Worship Center, where their faith anchors them in this unimaginable loss. While their hearts are broken, they rest in the promise that there is no asthma in heaven. Evan is whole. He is healed. He is breathing freely. The boy who once fought for breath now runs without limits in the presence of Jesus.
Though seven years feels unbearably short, Evan’s life leaves a legacy of joy, sweetness, curiosity, laughter, and light. His giggles will echo in the memories of those who loved him. His smile will not be forgotten. The love he gave so freely will continue to shape the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
For 2,831 days, Evan Patterson Snell blessed this world. And in each of those days, he was deeply loved. His time here was measured not only in years, but in giggles, Lego towers, Oreos shared, mischievous smirks, little hand hearts, quiet sidekick moments, Monster Bun-Bun hugged tightly, and the steady, faithful love of his family.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." — Matthew 5:8
Evan’s heart was pure, full of joy, love, and wonder. In his innocence and sweetness, he reflected God’s light, and now, as Matthew 5:8 promises, he sees Him face to face.
Evan will always be remembered for the joy, love, and laughter he brought to every heart he touched.
