Everett Louis Bookout, 82, of Wichita Falls passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, December 3, 2025 with loved ones at his bedside.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2025 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025 in the chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home.
Everett was born on June 18, 1943 in Lawton, Oklahoma at Fort Sill to the late Everett Lewis and Vondale (Tubbs) Bookout, but was raised by step-father Homer Ellis, who he adored. He grew up in Chickasha, and later the family moved to Wichita Falls. Everett proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years, then joined the United States Army for an additional eight years. After active duty, he attended Barber College in Wichita Falls, and worked as a Barber in Vernon. He then joined the Texas National Guard, and became one of the best-known welders in Wichita and surrounding counties. He was known as “Porky” and “Booger” by those who knew him best.
During his Army career, he met Rose Marie Gales, who later became his wife for twenty-five years. The couple had two wonderful daughters during that time. Lisa came along in November of 1972, and a little later Linda was born in July of 1974.
Everett’s military service was during the Vietnam war, and after coming home, he loved to take his girls to show them how to fish. He enjoyed hunting as well, but only rabbit and frogs! For the last six years, he has been spoiled and well taken care of by his youngest daughter Linda, and husband Jeff. He was also spoiled and cared for by his caregiver Juan, whom he enjoyed immensely.
Everett was preceded in death by his wife, who passed in 1999; parents; step-father whom he adored; and brother Ray Bookout.
He is survived by daughters Lisa, and husband Eddie Maben of Iowa Park, and Linda, and husband Jeff Perrin of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren: Justin Mitchell, Layton Webb, Lacey Webb, Jonathan Shirey, and Lainey Coates; five great-grandchildren; brothers Jimmy Bookout and Sammy Ellis; and sister Glenda Clampitt.
