So very sorry to hear this. I had not seen Sonny since we were kids, but sounds like he turned out real good! My husband and I have visited Barry's Church several times, when visiting Galax. Sonny has a real good son, in Barry. I'm sure the same for Jason! My family always rented places from Elwood and Doris at Holden Beach, when I was growing up. Condolences to the family and trusting God's grace and peace will surround you!

I met Sonny 28 years ago and I remember what a vibrant man he was. And the stories he would tell !He was a gifted taxidermist and he enjoyed people. He had a love and honor for God, country and his family. He was delt a crucial blow when he had the stroke, but with his Angel- Mary, he worked hard to regain what he did. Sonny was an original with deep thoughts and a long list of attributes such as he really believed in Family, God, Country; he loved his family and especially Mary- who was and is an Angel. He loved fiercely. He was a gifted taxidermist. I was proud to call him 'friend'
