Florence Cantone, 89, of Allentown, NJ passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at Serenity Hospice in Hamilton.
Flo was raised in Kearny, NJ, as the youngest of seven children. She met her husband, Alfonse, in 1951 at the Twin Cities Roller Rink on the Newark/Elizabeth border and they were married in St. Cecilia Church in Kearny in 1957. She and Al raised their family in Linden, NJ where they grew their love for animals into a dog breeding and dog grooming business. She also worked in sales, sales support and banking jobs, where she was known for her sharp wit, sense of humor, and ability to build strong, warm relationships. They later moved to Allentown, NJ and enjoyed spending winters in Tequesta, FL. After retirement, Flo and Al enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and spending time together.
An avid animal lover, Florence’s great love was her family and pets. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who took great care of her home and family. She was an accomplished cook and loved to host large holiday gatherings and entertain family and friends. She was generous with her talents, frequently cooking in large quantities and sharing with extended family and friends.
Florence is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Alfonse Cantone; her children Michael Cantone and his wife Karen and Cathy Cantone and her husband Eric; and by her grandchildren, Austin, Andrew, and David Cantone and Angela and Nicholas Duffala.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, May 28th from 5-8pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown, NJ.
A burial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 30th at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
