Not sure what to say?

My condolences to Keith and the family.
Florence was so sweet and a devoted Joyous Jewel member. We took her to the Golden Coral for lunch before she left Richmond. The church congregation also gave her a generous gift to say goodbye.
Florence was loved by all BGBC. We miss her smile on Sunday morning. Now I know God is smiling at her.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Obituary

Florence's Obituary

Florence G. Harris, fondly known as “Sister” or “Sis,” Aunt Flo, and Nana, was born on May 10, 1946, to the late Deacon Herman Turner and Deaconess Willie B. Turner. Florence entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 10, 2025, on her 79th birthday.

Florence was a devoted mother and grandmother, her family the center of her world. A woman of quiet spirit, she found joy in simple pleasures: the solace of scripture, the fellowship of Golden Corral, and the familiar dramas of her favorite soap operas. She especially cherished the bonds she shared with her beloved sisters. Her inner beauty radiated outward, touching all who knew her. Florence will be lovingly remembered for her kind heart and unwavering dedication to her children. Florence was married to her beloved husband, Joseph Harris, for 46 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. She also cherished her friendships, most notably with Gloria Green, Brenda Turner, and Evelyn Perkins, who brought joy and companionship to her life. Her daughter, Demetria “Mekie”, held a special place in her heart, as she was not only her daughter but also her best friend.

Educated in Chesterfield County Public Schools, Florence embraced her faith early in life, becoming a faithful member of Brown Grove Baptist Church. She cherished time spent with family. She retired from Chesterfield County Public Schools system and dedicated many more years to Lucy Corr Nursing Home.

Florence's memory will be cherished by her sons, Bryant Harris and Travis Harris (Nichelle); her grandchildren, Marcus, Deshawn, Nicholas, Bryant "BJ", Devone, Tyquon, and Ashley; and her great-grandchild, Aiden and Ava. She is also survived by her sisters, Wilda Pope, Edith Bailey, Wanda Henry, and Carolyn Turner; her brothers, Reverend Elvin Turner, Michael Turner, and Keith Turner (Mary); her brother-in-law, Cleveland Harris (Dorthy) and sister-in-law, Bessie Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harris; her sons, Terry Harris and Kevin Harris; her daughter, Demetria Harris, her best friend; and her grandparents.

Though her earthly journey has ended, Florence's love and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering devotion that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Brown Grove Baptist Church, 12816 Bailey Bridge Road, Midlothian, VA. The interment to follow at The Harris Family Cemetery.
