Frances Chavez

 Frances Chavez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt of Springer, NM, gained her wings peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the age of 83, in the presence of her loving family. Frances was born in Ocate, NM, on October 26, 1942, to Felipe and Nea Trujillo.

Frances met the love of her life and lifelong companion of sixty-five years, Albert Chavez, and together they were blessed with two sons, Johnny Lee and Michael Chavez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Nea Trujillo; her sisters, Pita Chavez and Rebecca Pacheco; and her great-grandson, Miguel Apodaca.

Frances is survived by her husband, Albert Chavez; her three children: son Johnny Lee Chavez (Kim Romero) of Springer, NM; son Michael Chavez of Eagle Nest, NM; and daughter Felicia Chavez of Springer, NM. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jazzie Chavez of Springer, NM; Johnny Chavez (Francesca) of Springer, NM; Michael Chavez of Cimarron, NM; and Christian Chavez (Angelica) of Springer, NM; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by four siblings: brother Tony Trujillo of Springer, NM; brother Johnny Trujillo (Eleanor) of Raton, NM; brother Raymond Trujillo (Yolanda) of Maxwell, NM; and sister Mary Garcia (Manuel) of Springer, NM, along with many nieces and nephews.

Frances was a source of love and warmth to everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle nature touched the lives of many, and her memory will live on in our hearts.

Services will be held on February 28, 2026, at 11am at the Outreach Tabernacle, 304 Colbert Ave., Springer, New Mexico. Recited by Pastor Tony Trujillo. Interment will follow in the Springer Cemetery. Arrangements for Frances Chavez are entrusted to Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
