Frances "Franny"'s Obituary

Frances “Franny” Rose Robinson Shaw, age 73, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. Born on November 17, 1952, in Fallon, Nevada, to Elmer Roy Robinson and Lelia Lucille Robinson (née McIntire), Franny grew up with a deep love for family, faith, and community.

A proud graduate of Churchill County High School’s Class of 1970, Franny went on to live a life full of hard work, adventure, and devotion. On August 24, 1984, she married the love of her life, David Ward Shaw, in Gabbs, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized and sealed for eternity in April 1987 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Franny was truly a jack of all trades and master of none—though she mastered the art of loving her family. Over the years, she worked as a bus driver, haul truck operator, secretary, florist, bookkeeper, and even the “garbage truck lady” on post. But above all, she was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, roles she cherished most.

She and David were blessed with five children: Dayna Courtier, Melissa (Dylan) Oxford, Jason Shaw, James (Sarah) Shaw, and Alex (Samantha) Shaw. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her endless joy.

Franny is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved with all her heart and with whom she treasured spending time.

Franny will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her tireless work ethic, her humor, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home, with a graveside dedication to follow.
