Francisca's Obituary

Francisca Acuña, born January 29, 1948, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, was reunited with her beloved “Honnie” on February 8, 2026, at the age of 78. Though our hearts carry the ache of her absence, we find comfort in imagining her joy as she returned to the arms of the one she loved so deeply. Her love story did not end here — it simply continued beyond this life.

She loved music and loved to dance. She loved to tell her stories of más antes — and there were plenty. She loved being outdoors in her garden with her flowers. She loved hiking trails and going fishing. Don’t let her fool you…every now and again she did enjoy a little “cha-ching” at Kickapoo, even though she would insist she didn’t really like it. She enjoyed traveling — near or far, it didn’t matter — she was always ready to go.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Norberto Acuña Jr.; her parents, Carlos and Narcisa De La Cruz; her brothers, Jesus and Carlos; and her sister, Rosa Medina.

She is survived by her daughters: Nancy De La Cruz (Nadaline), Connie Acuña (Victoria); sons: Norberto Acuña III (Dulce), and Reuben Acuña; brothers: Esequiel, Juan, Manuel, Natividad, and Antonio; sisters: Gloria, and Lucy Saffer (Steve); grandchildren: Leandra Acuña, Justice Cerrone (Angelica), Michael Santos, Clarissa Martinez, Reuben Acuña Jr., Joshua Acuña, Mia Garcia (Matthew), Jeremiah Priestley, and Norberto “Baby Bert” Acuña IV; great-grandchildren: Josiah Acuña, Mateo Garcia, and Lilith Martinez; loving nieces, nephews, and godchildren whom she loved wholeheartedly.

Her singing. Her laughter. Her whistling. Her voice. Her silence is deafening. The space she leaves behind is impossible to ignore. She is now at peace, and we will carry her with us — always — in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM rosary at Hillcrest Funeral Home. If you are unable to attend in person, you may join the livestreaming of the rosary at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaVJ-_OOv6eXfc4Wh5SQ-NQ
