Not sure what to say?

We both loved Obi as our brother and will miss him deeply. Our lives were touched by him in so many ways including his profound sense of patience. This world is better for having him in it.

Franklin's Obituary

Franklin Obiora (Obi) Andi was born February 2, 1953, in Enugu Nigeria. He passed away February 14, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas where he’d lived the last 47 years. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Diann, his three children and their spouses, and his five grandchildren. He was immensely proud of his children, their characters and their choices in life. He is also survived by four sisters and their children and grandchildren. His parents, a brother and sister predeceased him; we remember them fondly. While we are comforted that he is with God now, we will all miss him dearly.

Obi attended Manchester College in the U. S. where he met his wife and they later moved to San Antonio, Texas so he could pursue his Master’s degree. Years later he earned his U.S. citizenship. He spent most of his career as a programmer, successfully taking on many roles at University Hospital and later at Wells Fargo.

For many years Obi served as President of the Nigerian People’s Association of San Antonio (NPASA) bringing Nigerians of all backgrounds together and representing the community at events like the annual Texas Folklife Festival. He was also a founding member of the Dragons Soccer Club of San Antonio which was created to ensure kids - regardless of family income - could play in a competitive club. He coached his son’s team to many winning seasons.

Obi is remembered by his children as their guide, providing loving support for their growth and laying a firm foundation for their successful adult lives. They have described him as thoughtful, funny, charismatic, and devoted, helping them through troubled times and encouraging them to persevere. His wife recalls his courage in leaving all he knew behind to pursue his education, his honor, his lively sense of humor, and his commitment to creating, loving and nurturing a family with her. He was her true partner in life; her heart’s choice.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a 10:30 AM prayer service at Hillcrest Funeral Home. You may join us for the livestreaming of the prayer service at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaVJ-_OOv6eXfc4Wh5SQ-NQ
