Fred Biancher Dacus, Jr., age 91, passed away on June 10, 2019 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, FL.
He was born in Stewart, MS on November 23, 1927 to Fred B. Dacus, Sr. and Ella Jackson Dacus. He lived in Montgomery County for 89 years before moving to Pensacola.
Fred married Sara Nan Garrett on January 15, 1949 and together they built Dacus Furniture Company while raising four children. In addition to being a successful businessman, he was a Veteran, raised cattle for many years, and loved to travel out West with his wife and friends. He was loved and respected by his family, friends, and the community as a whole. He will be greatly missed.
In 2017, Sara Nan, his beloved wife of 68 years, passed away. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Bontemps; his parents; his brother, Harold Dacus; as well as his sister, Opal Simonds.
He is survived by his children, Barbara Hoffman (Jack), John Dacus (Monica), Patricia Mills (Ian); a son-in-law, Fred Bontemps; grandchildren, Jay Hoffman, Michael Hoffman, Caroline Allen, Paul Mills, Brian Mills, and Jeremy Bontemps; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Zoe, JD, Kate, Sara, Eva, Eli and Ian; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 9:00am until the Funeral Service at 10:00am Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Milligan Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Michael Hoffman, his grandson, officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
